1.
Arkady Ivanovich Marcoff
(Mорков) never
married but he seemed to have a natural daughter named Varvara. It is
speculated that her mother was a French actress Jusse? (Gyusse)?. How
and where did this relationship develop? Had the relationship taken
place in France or in Russia?. Varvara (Arkad’evna) inherited
Count Arkady Ivanovich's title and estate and married Prince S.Y. Golitsyn.
The Golitsyns were one of the most important families of that time.
Prince A. N. Golitsyn was the delegate of the Tsar to the Holy Synod. |

Emperor Francis II: The Marcoff (Mорковых)
were members of an old noble Russian family, however they had the title
of Counts of the Holy Roman Empire given to them by the Emperor Francis
II. Why was this honour given by a foreign crown? Was
this related to the Podolian possesions? |

Why were the three brothers, Nikolay, Arkady and Irakly placed in disgrace
of Tsar Paul I?. An Imperial Ukase dated 12th November 1798 ordered
them to leave Moscow and St. Petersburg for Podolia gobernia, where
they owned lands. Is any copy of this Ukase still available? Probably
this disgrace was one more among the thousands of top officeholders
of Empress Catherine II that Paul I removed after his ascension to the
throne. |

4. What is the relationship between the well known guitarist Vladimir I. Mорков and the Count (Mорков) Marcoff's family? It could not be proved that he was a member of the family, however the Mорков surname is virtually unique to our family 5.
What were the reasons for Victoria-Ann’s father to go to Russia?.
It seems that he was wounded during the Napoleonic war (1812) and
then he met Count Irakly Ivanovich Marcoff
(Mорков); was
the consequent journey of his daughter Victoria-Ann to Russia related
to a war wound of her father? If he was badly wounded during the battle
of Borodino, how was it possible that he was still alive to be the
Godfather of his grandson Joseph (28th October 1818)? Was he in Russia
for 6 years? When he become Ortodox? What happened to him afterwards?.
There was a highly ranked officer named Lacy serving as a foreigner
to the Russian Empire participating in the same wars as Irakly Ivanovich.
Victoria-Ann's family also have the surname of Lacy, were they related?. |

6. Why
the marriage of Victoria-Ann and Nikolay Iraklievich was kept in such
a secret? It is speculated that this was due to the fact that Nikolay
was under legal age for marriage (under 21). Was the cause of the secret
the lack of the military permit to marry? Was the marriage maintained
in secret due to a social difference or for other reasons? How many
members of the family knew about this marriage? It seems that at least
Countess Varvara N., the Godmother of Joseph knew about it. She surely
was Countess Varvara Nikolaevna Mорковa (Marcova) (b 1777 +
25th February 1833) daughter of Nikolay Ivanovich. Why did they choose
this relatively distant relative to be the Godmother? |

interest in contacting the Russian family or in claming their rights
as legal members of the family? Did Victoria sign
any document in that regard? |

The Ukraine family had a portrait of Prince Kurakin who Governor General
of the Ukraine between 1759-1829. He has no relation to the family,
at least as far as is known. However the family has this portrait, although
no one can say under what circumstances it came into their ancestors
hands. |

Why is it so difficult to obtain birth or death certificates of well
known and no doubt once existing members of the family such as Nikolay
Iraklievich? This also applies even to historical
personages such as Count Irakly Ivanovich. It will be very interesting
to review the register of births and deaths of Kukavka church for the
years 1818-1822. This register has not been found yet. It must be taken
into account that due to Irakly Ivanovich's frequent changes of regiment
his son could have been born elsewhere. |

10.
Rudolf Stollenwerk is also a mysterious person, he married Ezheny Logash
(Countess Eugenia Mорковa
(Marcova)),
a French lady and widow of Count Dimitry Arkadyevich Mорков
(Marcoff).
He was an outstanding financial dealer and head of the Kiev branch of
the S. Petersburg commercial bank. How did they come to know each other
if he lived in Kiev and she lived permanently in Olchadayevo with her
son Count Irakly Dmitrievich Mорков
(Marcoff)?
Count Irakly Dmitrievich could have had an account at the bank as this
bank specialized mainly in the sugar industry and beet farms. What happened
to them afterwards? During the revolutionary period they still resided
in Kiev, in the governmental district and in this area the administration
of the President of Ukraine is located. |
